Caterpillar has raised the bar for articulated dump truck performance with the introduction of its C Series to replace its B series ADTs. All the new Cat 735C, 740C EJ and 745C ADTs have engines that meet US EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV emissions standards. The machines also incorporate many new and upgraded features designed to boost the operator’s efficiency, ensure a longer life cycle of the vehicle and save fuel. A Caterpillar top hammer rig is said to be working well in a tough granite quarry operation in the US. The MD5150C rig is out-performing down-the-hole (DTH) rigs, with higher productivity and lower fuel consumption. Of note though is the fact that the machine is also delivering comparable hole straightness to the DTH machines. Doosan has launched the 30tonne DX300LC-5 Stage IV compliant crawler excavator, providing greatly improved performance over the LC-3 Stage IIIB model. Bucket, arm and swing forces in the DX300LC-5 remain the same as the Stage IIIB model, but the drawbar pull has been sharply increased by 8%. Peri’s Variokit heavy-duty truss girder system has been designed specifically for tunnel and bridge construction to reach those hard-to-get places. The heavy-duty truss girder complements the Variokit heavy-duty shoring tower. Kobelco has unveiled seven new mini-excavators below 3tonnes at INTERMAT 2015 in Paris as a result of a major agreement with construction equipment manufacturer Yanmar. The deal increases the options for Kobelco customers and potential customers who work in extremely tight environments. “INTERMAT is our first announcement and roll out of these models,” said Sander Gesink, Kobelco’s brand marketing manager.
