UK firm JCB is opting to move production of its compaction equipment range from its facility in Germany to facilities in India and the UK. Production of the VM compactors and the two larger VM tandem rollers will be moved to the firm’s factory in Pune. Meanwhile production of all walk-behind models and the two smaller VM tandem rollers is relocating to the JCB Attachments factory in Uttoxeter. Work has started on a new facility for BOMAG Americas in South Carolina. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in Ridgeway, at the future site of the firm’s new North American headquarters. A fleet of Wirtgen machines is helping build a section of a major highway in Romania, the Transylvanian Autostrada A3. This 588km road connects Romanian capital Bucharest with the Hungarian border and links to the Hungarian M4 highway. Plans for the A3 got the go-ahead in 2004 and the route runs via Ploieti, Braov, Sighioara, Târgu Mure, Cluj-Napoca, Zalau and Oradea to the Hungarian border, with completion scheduled for 2017.
Volvo CE machines help construct and pave Polish highway

Polish contractors Salini Poland and PBDiM Kobylarnia are building a 64km section of the A1 highway between Toru (Northwest of Warsaw) and Kowale (just south of Gdansk on the Northern coast). This project will complete a key section of the highway and is being funded by the Polish road authority (GDDKiA). Worth some €107 million this is one of three schemes being undertaken by the consortium to complete the main A1 highway.
