The Wirtgen Group has invested heavily in its Hamm compaction equipment business - Mike Woof writes New compaction models and a brand new factory are strong examples of how the Wirtgen Group has been investing heavily in its Hamm road roller operation. Four new compactors are being launched, two each for the soil compaction and asphalt compaction markets. The company is launching the new H5i and H7i single drum soil compactors as well as the DV+70i and DV+90i twin drum asphalt compactors.

Sumitomo has developed a larger, high performance paver to meet the needs for productive highway class machines in export markets. The new HA90C-2 is based on the earlier HA90C paver, which was only sold in China and also shares a common design and layout with the existing and well-proven HA60C/W. Atlas Copco introduces new low emission diesels in its latest large paver models - Mike Woof writes The large pavers from Atlas Copco’s Dynapac range are now compliant with the Tier 4 Final/Stage IV emissions regulations due to the installation of new engines. Running costs are also said to have been reduced due to lower fuel consumption and the firm claims each of the latest models can offer a fuel saving of 4200 litres/year, as well as a reduction in CO2 emissions of 11tonnes/year.

Vögele is offering high performance paving with its new machine - Mike Woof writes Vögele is introducing a new medium class tracked paver, the SUPER 1600-3i and its rubber tyred sibling, the SUPER 1603-3i. The company is also offering an update to its SprayJet package for paving thin overlays. Both the SUPER 1600-3i and SUPER 1603-3i share the benefits of the firm’s Dash 3 features, with the tracked machine able to handle paving widths up to 7.5m and the rubber tyred version offer a maximum width of 7m.
