MOBA and Highway Data Systems, HDS, team up in the United Kingdom

MOBA UK and Highway Data Systems (HDS) have formed a joint venture to provide road builders with sensing technology and HDS/MATest’s materials testing. MOBA’s hardware is used to capture data from a range of sensors on the paving machine. HDS delivers post-paving quality control testing using its vehicle mounted systems. MOBA is based in Limburg, Germany, and Highway Data Systems, has offices in Glasgow, Scotland, and in Hitchin, England.
Concern for Russia’s poor road quality

A new report highlights the poor conditions of Russia’s roads. The latest Global Competitiveness Report 2015-2016 shows that is in 123rd position worldwide in terms of road quality. The report is based on polls carried out from Russian businessmen and assessed the quality of local roads at 2.7 points on average on a scale from 1 - 7. However this ranking is an improvement on the previous report carried out in 2012, when Russia’s roads scored 136th worldwide for quality.
Ethiopia’s rapid road building

Ethiopia is undergoing a rapid economic growth and infrastructure construction programme. This is helping drive the country’s economy, with new roads, railways and dams amongst the major civils works currently under construction. The road expansion programme is one of the key targets for the infrastructure work and it is estimated that road network of the country will be expanded to 136,000km in all.

LiuGong’s new CLG509A paver is aimed at use on projects for roads, parking lots and airports. The firm says that it is suitable for bituminous concrete, stabilising soil, lime-ash soil and all kinds of road materials while it can handle paving widths of up to 9m and has a maximum throughput of 700tonnes/ hour.
