Mexican highway projects on track

Mexico’s road development programme for 2014 is well on track. According to the Secretariat of Communications and Transport in (SCT), some 92% of the budget set for road projects in 2014 has already been implemented. The SCT is now moving forward with its plans for road projects in 2015. The tender process for major contracts will be opening from mid-November 2014. Mexico’s road development programme for 2014 is well on track. According to the Secretariat of Communications and Transport in (SCT), some 92% of the budget set for road projects in 2014 has already been implemented. The SCT is now moving forward with its plans for road projects in 2015. The tender process for major contracts will be opening from mid-November 2014. A budget of some US$1.92 billion is being planned for road projects in 2015, a significant increase from the $1.15 billion set for 2014. The first contracts could be awarded as early as December 2014.

    Five major highway maintenance contracts will be opened to tender in Mexico shortly. In all the contracts will cover 2,015km of roads while the work is expected to cost US$727 million in all.     Mexico's Secretarat of Communications of Transport (SCT) has awarded the contract to build the Cardel-Poza Rica motorway to Portuguese company Mota-Engil. The proposal made by the company, together with PRODI, of US$266.48 million (MXN 3.47 billion), was deemed the most feasible technically and financially.   • Mexican motorway under construction

    Construction work is underway for Mexico’s Atizapan-Atlacomulco motorway project. The project will now be complete in 2021, although it was originally planned to be ready for traffic in 2016. A series of delays hit the contractor originally working on the project, which then resulted in Mexico’s Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT) awarding the contract to another group. The concession for the project is now being handled by Aleatica.

  • Mexico to allocate $3.3 billion for road infrastructure in 2016

    Mexico’s sub-secretary of infrastructure, Raul Murrieta Cummings, has announced that the Mexican Secretariat of Communications and Transport will US$3.3 billion in road infrastructure projects during 2016.
