Slovakia highway project on track

Construction of the D1 highway stretch connecting Presov and Kosice in Slovakia is said to be well underway.

Construction of the D1 highway stretch connecting Presov and Kosice in Slovakia is said to be well underway. Around 50% of the work required has so far been completed and the stretch could be ready for traffic in the second quarter of 2021. Driving the tunnel section at Presov commenced three months ahead of schedule. In all the work is costing €327.4 million, with €278.3 million being provided by the EU.

    Plans are now going ahead in Slovakia for a key stretch of the D1 highway project. This 8km Presov West-Presov South section will cost €356 million to construct.   • Slovakia opens Levoca bypass of D1 motorway section

    Slovakia has opened the 9.5km Levoca bypass, nearly completing the northern part of the D1 cross-country motorway. The remaining section between Bratislava and Kosice is expected to be open around 2020, with the Zilina, Presov and Ruzomberok bypasses yet to be built.
