Paraguay-Brazil bridge project planned

Bidding is opening for the bridge project intended to connect Paraguay and Brazil.

Bidding is opening for the bridge project intended to connect Paraguay and Brazil. The bridge will span the Paraguay River, connecting Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay with Puerto Murthino in Brazil. The project will connect Route 267 in Brazil with the Py15 route in Paraguay. However the latter is a minor road and will have to be upgraded to allow it to carry the volumes of traffic anticipated.

    Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) hopes to finalise a US$100 million loan with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) for construction of new roads.     Construction work is now restarting on the BR-163 highway in Brazil, following a four month cessation of activities. The work on the stretch of the route in Mato Grosso do Sul is being carried out by CCR and MSVia.
