The bridge connects Thanlyin with Yangon’s Thaketa Township area and is being built just 125m from the existing bridge over the Bago River. This new cable-stayed structure will help improve traffic flow as it features two lanes in either direction, reducing delays for drivers as the existing bridge can be congested at peak periods. Of importance is that it is being designed to carry the heavy trucks moving to and from the industrial areas around Yangon.
