Funding secured for Chilean highway connection

Much of the necessary funding has now been secured for construction of the first section of Chile’s Americo Vespucio Oriente (AVO 1) highway. A loan package worth US$832 million is being provided jointly by a number of funding bodies. These are; Banco Estado, Bci and Banco de Chile. In all the project is expected to cost $984 million. The construction work is being carried out by a consortium comprising Sacyr and Aleatica (formely OHL Concesiones).

    Strong bids have been received for Chile’s Puente Industrial road bridge project, which will be built in Region VIII. Bidders included Spanish firm OHL as well as Besalco Concesiones-Concesiones Viarias Chile Tres and Sacyr Concesiones Chile. Work on the 2.5km bridge is expected to commence in 2014 and the project will cost some US$170 million to construct, with completion expected in 2017.     Construction work on the Americo Vespucio Oriente (AVO) highway in Chile should start soon. This will commence once the environmental impact assessment has been completed. There has been a delay as the environmental impact assessment into the first section of the highway was halted. Allegations were made concerning irregularities over this portion of the work.
