Australia road contract awarded to South Korean firm
The 13km M4-M5 Link in Sydney, Australia is to be constructed by the South Korean contractor, Samsung C&T. The project is worth US$788.5 million. The new link will be constructed as an underpass and is due for completion in mid-2023.

A substantial plan for road maintenance has been established by Transport Quebec in Canada. The 2014-2016 roadwork plan sets out works needed to provincial roads on Montreal Island. The work is worth some US$1.23 billion (C$1.34 billion) and involves repairing existing road infrastructure. Meanwhile a further $78.85 million (C$85.9 million) will be spent on new roads. The Victoria state government in Australia is planning to build Melbourne’s East West Link road costing US$5.64 billion (AUD 6 billion) to $7.53 billion (AUD 8 billion) on public-private partnership (PPP) basis and will award construction deals by the end of 2013.

Work is now underway in Colombia’s capital, Bogota, on a road rebuild and improvement project. The work is to upgrade the 13km Avenida Guayacanes route. The improved road will provide three lanes of traffic in either direction between Bosa and Kennedy in the city. The work also includes building 12km of cycling facilities. The project is expected to cost in excess of US$139 million and the intended completion date is August 2021.
