Australia road contract awarded to South Korean firm
The 13km M4-M5 Link in Sydney, Australia is to be constructed by the South Korean contractor, Samsung C&T. The project is worth US$788.5 million. The new link will be constructed as an underpass and is due for completion in mid-2023.

The 13km M4-M5 Link in Sydney, Australia is to be constructed by the South Korean contractor, 1026 Samsung C&T. The project is worth US$788.5 million. The new link will be constructed as an underpass and is due for completion in mid-2023.
Construction work for Singapore’s North-South Corridor (NSC) project will commence in 2018. South Korean contractor Samsung C&T will carry out the first stage of work for the project in a deal worth just over US$601 million. The package of works was awarded to the firm by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA).
The size of Australia’s largest infrastructure project could get bigger with the addition of another tunnel, according to media reports.
The New South Wales state government is considering another tunnel, around 1km long, in the inner west, expanding the size of Sydney's WestConnex toll road project, according to the Sydney Motorway Corporation, which along with its state government client, Roads and Maritime Services, is in charge or the US$12.74 billion project.

Sydney’s proposed WestConnex motorway will be wider than planned to accommodate four instead of three lanes in each direction, according to media reports.
The changes are part of a revamp of the third and final stage of the ambitious project in the capital city of Australia’s eastern New South Wales state.
Some exit and entry ramps will also be scrapped but the overall cost of just under US$5.3 billion for the third stage remains unchanged, reported the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper.
The projects
A Salini Impregilo consortium has been shortlisted to design and build the Rozelle Interchange and Iron Cove Link as part of Sydney’s WestConnex project.
WestConnex, the biggest road development in Australia, is likely to cost around US$12.6 billion.
At an estimated value of about $2.65 billion, the Rozelle Interchange and Iron Cove Link was commissioned by the New South Wales state government. It will include an underground motorway interchange to City West Link and underground bypass of Victoria Roa
