Austrian formwork specialist 203 Doka has acquired Dutch construction materials research company.

Around 40 people work at BAS, based in Venlo, Netherlands, which was set up in 1979 to researching and develop materials used in the construction industry, particularly concrete.

Doka is a formwork developer and manufacturer and part of the Umdasch Group based in Amstetten, Austria. Doka has a worldwide workforce of more than 6,000.

The acquisition comes after several years of cooperation between the two companies. "We've been working successfully with BAS for several years,” said Jürgen Obiegli, chairman of Doka Group and who sealed the deal.

“Concremote, a sensor-based technology for measuring strength development in concrete and for identifying the ideal time for stripping the formwork, was one of the absolute highlights at this year's bauma expo.”

BAS has focused its research and development activities on material use from the planning stage through to demolition and waste disposal and has its own concrete laboratories in the Netherlands.
