Pakistan plans road rebuilds

The Pakistan Highway Rehabilitation Project is now moving forward in a programme that will see repairs and improvements to key sections of the country's road network.

The Pakistan Highway Rehabilitation Project is now moving forward in a programme that will see repairs and improvements to key sections of the country's road network. The 2332 World Bank is funding this programme to the tune of US$130 million in a 40 year financial package. The work planned will include resurfacing 342km of highways, upgrading 514km of highways and rebuilding 128km of damaged roads.

    Plans to upgrade the Vilnius to Utena highway in Lithuania will now go ahead following the securing of a loan to help pay for the project. The €40 million loan is being sourced from the European Investment Bank (EIB). The loan will be for a period for 12 years, with guarantees being provided by the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI).
