240 Instarmac’s New Zealand partner, Horizon International, has supplied UltraScape’s Mortar Paving System to Auckland Transport as part of a local improvement project.

Franklin Road regularly surpasses 14,000 vehicles per day, including buses and heavy goods vehicles. This heavy and constant trafficking had caused the road surface to deteriorate.

Auckland Transport announced their plans to carry out significant improvement works to Franklin Road to provide “an urban streetscape that will accommodate all road users while retaining natural heritage”.

Instarmac says that its UltraScape’s Mortar Paving System has a durable and aesthetically pleasing finish making it ideal for such upgrades. Horizon International installed the system on a roundabout and traffic calming crossroads throughout Franklin Road.

UltraScape’s Mortar Paving System comprises Pro-Bed HS fine bedding mortar, Pro-Prime slurry primer and Flowpoint rapid set flowable grout.

Pro-Bed HS - pre-blended for ease of use - can be laid from 10-75mm, is shrinkage-compensated and can be opened to foot traffic in just 12 hours. This allows contractors to move on to the next part of the project quickly, says Instarmac.

Formulated to provide an exceptional bond between your paving element and Pro-Bed HS, Pro-Prime slurry primer eliminates costly failures caused by general wear and tear and heavy load bearing vehicles.

Instarmac says that its Flowpoint provides a durable finish that will not crack or stain – “a guarantee that has been put to the test in some of the world’s hottest and coldest climates”. Flowpoint also can receive foot traffic in one hour and vehicular traffic in four hours keeping disruption for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users to a minimum.

Warsaw’s General Stefan Rowecki Bridge, or the Grota Bridge, is the second largest in the Polish capital and, as part of the Trasa Toruska expressway, it is the busiest. The structure, which opened in 1981, handles 150,000 cars daily, so repairs were always going to be tricky if minimal disruption to traffic was to occur. The steel orthotropic deck consists of two structurally independent parts – each with four traffic lanes. This meant that pedestrians and cyclists were restricted to two very narrow track

Vert Bleu has used UltraCrete Instant Road Repair to repair dangerous potholes in and around tunnels in the Rhône-Alps region of France. Vert Bleu, working for Instarmac, a manufacturer and distributor of cement- and bitumen-based products, was focussed on a roundabout connecting the French highway to a tunnel. Regular heavy passenger car traffic, along with the braking and turning from heavyweight vehicles and trucks, had caused severe damage to the highway’s wearing course. Numerous other cold asphalts
