Achieving precise compaction is crucial to delivering a high-quality, long-lasting road. Under-compaction will cause early failure while over-compaction will damage the aggregates and result in key specifications not being achieved. To get the best results from the compaction process, monitoring and control of the number of passes and the asphalt temperature is required. The package includes an infrared sensor that is able to monitor heat, ensuring that compaction is carried out while the mat is in its optimum temperature range.
According to MOBA its MCA-500 system offers a comparatively low-cost solution to intelligent compaction. Ian Lewis, MOBA UK’s managing director, said, “Our customers are always asking us how we can help them improve the productivity of their rollers as well as the quality of the finished surface.
