The US$290 million in bonds arranged by the Paraguayan Government will help pay for the widening or Route 2 and Route 7. A further $200 million is being provided by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). The work is being handled by a consortium, Consorcio Rutas del Este, which comprises Ocho A and Sacyr. Construction started in August 2019 and should take three years to complete, while the joint venture partners have a deal that allows a 27-year concession package for Route 2 and Route 7.
