One of Dubai's leading concrete suppliers, Bushager Readymix, is improving efficiency using sophisticated GPS-based tracking technology on its concrete mixer truck and concrete pump fleet. The firm has automated management of its 90 concrete mixing trucks and 20 concrete pumps and is the sophisticated Skyline GPS advanced tracking and security package, which was supplied by UK firm 6254 Enigma Vehicle Systems. The Skyline system is said to provide major cost savings as it improves fleet scheduling, reduces administration costs and improves customer service.

Meeting the demand for concrete in Dubai while dealing with the traffic congestion issue provides a tough challenge. The Skyline system has automated fleet management and now allows the firm to move vehicles between batching plants and optimise production and delivery.

The system gives the user reports on plant or vehicle status on a round the clock basis, along with fully integrated 1224 Google road, satellite and hybrid maps. The addition of a zone reporting function provides data on vehicle departure and arrival and is coupled with sensors connected to the mixer allowing loaded, unloading and unloaded status on the concrete mixers on site. The latest Version 6.0 Skyline system is Internet-based and the system can be used simultaneously in the Middle East, Europe, Latin America and Africa. This technology can be used on any vehicle and all types of site equipment including excavators, compressors, dumpers forklift trucks, traffic light sets and powered access platforms.
