A new bridge in Ecuador will improve transport connections in the country. The opening of this new structure is of note as it is the longest bridge in Ecuador. The Bahia de Caraquez-San Vicente road bridge cost some US$102 million to construct.
The Colombian government has awarded the contract for construction of the Cesar-Guajira road to Construcciones El Condor, sole bidder for the work.
The deal is a US$165 million public-private partnership (PPP) aiming to improve connectivity with the country’s Caribbean coastal departments. The 350km road will connect San Roque with Cuestecita, take four years to build and employ around 1,400 workers.

Interest is strong in the project to build the 14km tunnel link between Chile and Argentina, with reports stating that 23 firms having expressed an interest in the work.
