Turkish motorway and bridge tolls make US$200.79mn in H1 2013

Turkey generated US$200.79 million (TRY 390mn) from motorway and bridge tolls in the first half of 2013. In H1 2013, bridges were used by 76.5 million vehicles raising $57.24 million (TRY 111.5mn) revenue. Over the same period, motorways were used by 110 million vehicles raising $143.55 million (TRY 280mn).

    A further US$94.08 million (£60mn) is to be spent on fixing the Hammersmith flyover “monstrosity” in west London, England. Transport for London (TfL) is to fund a second phase of repairs to the structure’s badly corroded arches due to start in October 2013. The flyover was shut to all traffic just before Christmas 2011 to allow initial emergency arch repairs – leading to huge traffic chaos in west London – before being partially reopened a few weeks later.
