Skanska scores Polish project

Skanska is now starting work on a new highway to the northeast of the Polish city of Wroclaw. The project is worth €106 million and is for a 25km section of the S-8 highway running from Olesnica to Sycow

2296 Skanska is now starting work on a new highway to the northeast of the Polish city of Wroclaw. The project is worth €106 million and is for a 25km section of the S-8 highway running from Olesnica to Sycow for the Polish Road Administration.

The work requires the construction of 20km of four-lane highway and the widening of 5km of an existing section of road. Included in the work will be the construction of traffic interchanges, 18 flyovers and 12 wildlife crossings, as well as the erection of 3.5km of noise barriers and fencing.

On-site work is starting shortly and will be completed by the second quarter of 2012. At the moment, Skanska is also working on two additional major road projects in the Wroclaw area.

Construction is also in progress on the north-south A1 highway; conducted as a public-private partnership project. Skanska’s share of the construction contract for A1 amounts to €570 million
