Strabag wins German A3 Autobahn contract

Austrian contract STRABAG has won the tender process to widen the A3 Autobahn in southern Germany. The contract will see the firm widening the A3 to six lanes in a deal worth €90 million. Austrian contract 945 STRABAG has won the tender process to widen the A3 Autobahn in southern Germany. The contract will see the firm widening the A3 to six lanes in a deal worth €90 million. The A3 connects the cities of Frankfurt and Nuremburg. STRABAG has been awarded the EO 287 contract to widen a 5.7km section of the road using asphalt construction methods in the state of Bavaria. It has also won the EO 259 contract to widen an 8.5km section of road using asphalt construction methods in the state of in Baden-Württemberg.

Contract section EO 287 will see STRABAG widening the A3 to six lanes from the Heidingsfeld interchange in Bavaria to Randersacker Bridge. In addition to widening the asphalt roadway, the contract also involves extensive retaining wall works as well as the construction of noise barriers. A temporary road will also be built south of the motorway in order to reduce the interruption to traffic to a minimum.

STRABAG also recently started work on the A3 contract section EO 259, a stretch of Autobahn near Wertheim in Baden-Württemberg. This contract involves the expansion of the asphalt roadway from four to six lanes.
