A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
India is helping with funding for Nepal’s infrastructure development programme. In particular this funding will be used to help expand and improve Nepal’s highway network. The move has been highlighted by the recent presentation of a US$2.31 million cheque by the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri, to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management, Nepal. Work is starting on a new road tunnel in Nepal. The tunnel will form part of a 58km highway route that will improve connectivity in the country from capital Kathmandu to Kulekhani and Hetauda. The Kathmandu - Kulekhani - Hetauda Tunnel (KKHT) HighwayTunnel (KKHT) Highway is a major project for Nepal and is being carried out under the PPP model.
