A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
Plans are moving forward in France for the beltway project around the city of Strasbourg. This tolled highway project is now expected to cost up to €756 million, compared with the original estimate of €400 million quoted during the call to tender in 2009. Vinci won the concession for the link. Should the project progress according to schedule, construction work could commence in 2013. The Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) plans to announce over 30 tenders for road investments during the first half of 2009. GDDKiA's budget for 2009 is estimated at €7.68 billion. The Indian Government has set out plans to award highway projects worth at least US$8.84 billion during the next fiscal year. These projects will be offered under the hybrid annuity model, according to a report in the Economic Times. KPMG has stated that some 21 projects for a total of 1,500km and worth close to a third of that sum will be granted by the Indian Government in the current fiscal year.
