A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
The International Road Federation has announced the winners of the 2017 IRF Global Road Achievement Awards at the closing of the IRF Middle East & North Africa Regional Congress & Exhibition.
This year, the IRF honours 11 projects from around the world, each leading the
way in innovation across major road and highway disciplines. The selection was made by an international panel of senior road development specialists.

The Indian Government has set out plans to award highway projects worth at least US$8.84 billion during the next fiscal year. These projects will be offered under the hybrid annuity model, according to a report in the Economic Times. Drivers in Nicaragua’s capital Managua look set to benefit from a series of road projects being planned. The work is intended to cut congestion at peak periods and smooth traffic flow. One of the major projects will be the upgrading of the Juan Pablo II motorway, with the addition of five new flyover sections. A loan worth US$105 million from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) plus another loan worth $136 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) will help pay for the project.
