A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
Brazil's national land transport agency ANTT has launched a public consultation concerning a proposed contract extension of 13 years for the NovaDutra highway concession held by CCR. The deal covers the Rodovia Presidente Dutra highway between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, according to a report by the Valor Economico newspaper. Consultations will run for 30 days until mid-April and include two sessions in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
A financing deal has been signed for a portion of a major highway project in Indonesia. The US$91 million loan package has been signed between Indonesian infrastructure financing company, Sarana Multi Infrastrucktur (SMI), and contractor, Hutama Karya. This will help pay for work on the 22km Palembang-Indrayala stretch of the 2,700km Trans Sumatra 2,700km highway project. The funds will be made available in three tranches. Funding from state sources will provide the remaining funds required for the Palemban
The new Regina Bypass Project in Canada is gathering momentum, with construction due to start in mid-2015 and expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2018. The project is benefiting from US$183.63 million (C$200 million) of federal funds and includes building the 40km highway class bypass itself, a 5km section of dual carriageway between the bypass and Highway 6 and 10 overpasses.
