A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
OHL Mexico, a subsidiary of Spanish construction firm OHL, has confirmed it will bid for the construction and operation contract for Mexico’s La Raza-Indios Verdes-Santa Clara motorway.
The 9.5km road worth around US$364 million will be let as a public-private partnership under the federal government’s National Infrastructure Programme, Mexico’s El Economista newspaper reported.
A total of 14 companies are interested in the project, including Pinfra, Ideal, Prodemex, China Harbour Engineering Mexico
Construction work will commence soon on Nepal’s Naubise-Nagdhunga road tunnel project. The final design for the 2.6km link has yet to be approved. Funding for the project is being provided by a loan from the Japanese Government. The project is being built by the contractor Nippon Koei and is expected to cost US$176.1 million.
Ethiopia is planning a series of road projects as part of its Growth & Transformation Plan. These road projects are worth close to US$128 million in total, with the plans being managed by the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA). The plans calls for the construction of some 54km of flyovers to be built in the city of Yangon, the country’s former capital.
