Vietnam expressway project gets go ahead

Approval has been given for Vietnam’s Hoa Binh-Moc Chau expressway project. The go ahead has been given by Vietnam’s Government. The project has an estimated cost of US$881 million and is planned as a public-private partnership. The construction work is expected to take 42 months and the new route will connect Hoa Binh to Moc Chau. When complete the expressway will cut the journey time between Hanoi and Moc Chau by around two hours.

    In the U.S. state of Missouri, a second project within the US$380 million Gateway Arch grounds restoration has been given the go-ahead. Construction will start in the summer of 2013 on the initial project to put a ‘lid’ over Interstate 70, near the grounds of the Arch.   • Montreal’s new Champlain Bridge is in a race against time

    Montreal’s US$3.24 billion Champlain Bridge across the St Lawrence River may not be open on time, according to a report by the independent Auditor General.     The Chilean authorities have awarded the project to build the Chacao crossing to a consortium comprising OAS, Hyundai, Systra and Aas-Jakobsen. The winning bid was for US$680.4 million. When the contracting consortium completes construction of Chile’s Chacao Channel crossing it will connect Chiloe Island to Chile’s mainland.
