Tenders for Dominican tunnel project

Tendering is now open for the second phase of the Corredor Duarte road project in the Dominican Republic.

Tendering is now open for the second phase of the Corredor Duarte road project in the Dominican Republic. The second phase of the project is expected to cost from US$180-200 million. The new link will feature multiple tunnel systems, on the Tiradentes, Winston Churchill, Maximo Gomez and Abraham Lincoln avenues. Construction of the 'Ortega y Gasset' tunnel, between Avenue 27 de Febrero and the Santo Domingo Autonomous University (USAD), is already 40% complete and will be officially opened in November 2011.

    Progress is being made in the Czech Republic on two key urban tunnel projects. In capital Prague, the Czech contractor Metrostave has now completed the drilling portion of the Letna section of the Blanka road tunnel. Local residents have complained about the noise, vibration and cracks in their properties that they say have been generated by the drilling and blasting work. The project looks as though its completion date will be later than first planned however.

    The Indonesian government is getting ready to tender for major infrastructure projects including roads to be developed under public-private partnership (PPP) contracts, the Jakarta Post reported. Public Works and Public Housing minister Basuki Hadimuljono said in Jakarta that the first priorities would be on the 94km Balikpapan-Samarinda toll road, the 7km Manado-Bitung toll road in North Sulawesi and a drinking water treatment system project in western Semarang, central Java.
