Plans in hand for new Slovakian tunnel construction

Work to complete the Kosice-Ruzomberok highway connection in Slovakia is now being planned. The remaining stretch still to be built is for the South-West Presov by-pass, with the most challenging section being the road tunnel at Presov, which will be 2km long. The construction work is commencing shortly and is expected to cost close to €370 million. The work is expected to take four years to complete. Work to complete the Kosice-Ruzomberok highway connection in Slovakia is now being planned. The remaining stretch still to be built is for the South-West Presov by-pass, with the most challenging section being the road tunnel at Presov, which will be 2km long.     Arpad Ersek, Slovakia's Minister of Transport, said another two tenders for construction of two R2 expressway stretches will be called by the end of 2018. They will include the stretch Roznava-Jablonov nad Turnou with the Soroska tunnel and the Kosice, Saca-Kosicke Olsany. In both cases financing has been secured.     Driving work has commenced for Colombia’s Toro Tunnel project. The tunnel will measure 9.8km long and is located in Colombia’s Antioquia Department, with the completion expected in 2022. The project is costing US$650.5 million and the link is intended to provide a link between the Autopista al Mar 1 and Autopista al Mar 2 highways.
