Philippines bridge projects planned

Plans are in hand in the Philippines for a series of bridge construction projects. Two of the key bridge projects are for links between Luzon and Samar Island and from Leyte Island to Surigao. The work is expected to cost some US$3.85 billion. Construction work could commence in early 2018.

    In Ecuador plans are being drawn up for a new bridge connecting Duran with the port city of Guayaquil. The bridge will span the Guayas River and is expected to cost US$800 million to build. The project had been proposed by the former administration but stalled and has now been revived by the current administration.     In Russia a series of road projects planned to improve connections to Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport have been cut. The new roads connecting to Domodedovo Airport are required for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. But with Russia cutting its federal budget for road development, the projects have halted. Projects affected include the reconstruction of five sections of the A105 federal highway to the airport, construction of four interchanges and nine pedestrian overpasses.
