Philippines bridge projects planned

Plans are in hand in the Philippines for a series of bridge construction projects. Two of the key bridge projects are for links between Luzon and Samar Island and from Leyte Island to Surigao. The work is expected to cost some US$3.85 billion. Construction work could commence in early 2018.

    The Canadian province of Quebec plans to build a US$219 million bridge across the St Lawrence River alongside the existing Mercier Bridge in the city of Montreal. Provincial government cabinet ministers Pierre Moreau and Geoff Kelley confirmed that a new bridge is forthcoming, but gave schedule for procurement or construction start, according to local media.   • Polish road projects commencing shortly

    Two major road projects are planned for Poland. Spanish construction firm Dragados intends to start work building a 25km ring road around the Polish city of Radom in the second half of 2016. The road will cost over €171.67 million to construct and will be completed in 2018. The work includes building four bridges, four junctions and two pedestrian bridges. The new ring road will form a part of the S7 road and reduce journey time between Krakow, Kielce and Warsaw.
