Paraguay road deal being signed

Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications is awarding a major package of works to widen two key highway routes. The construction work will be carried out on Route 2 and for Route 7 and involves adding extra lanes and improving safety, in a bid to boost capacity as well as protection measures for road users. Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications is awarding a major package of works to widen two key highway routes. The construction work will be carried out on Route 2 and for Route 7 and involves adding extra lanes and improving safety, in a bid to boost capacity as well as protection measures for road users. Construction of the US$520 million package is expected to commence in mid-2017, with the work being carried out under the PPP model. Route 2 is also known as the Mariscal Jose Felix Estigarribia highway while Route 7 is also known as Gaspar Rodriguez de Francia highway.

    Sacyr subsidiary Sacyr Concesiones is leading a consortium to will build and operate the Road 2 and Road 7 routes in Paraguay. The Road 2 route will connect Asunción and Coronel Oviedo.     A series of tenders for major road projects is planned in Paraguay during 2016. The country's Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will launch tenders with a total value of US$2.27 billion.
