New Zealand road safety budget increase

New Zealand is increasing its budget for road safety measures. Included in the plan for the 2018/2019 period will be a series of upgrades to noted danger spots on local roads as well as improving intersections. The budget will now be US$2.76 billion (NZ$4 billion), an increase from the $2.48 billion (NZ$3.6 billion) for the 2017/2018 period.

    Funding worth US$1.54 billion is helping to finance a series of infrastructure projects in New Zealand. Some $980 million will help pay for the half-tunnelled 4.8km Waterview Connection.     The authorities in Indonesia plan to invest heavily in infrastructure in 2010 and 2011, with road transport regarded as a high priority. The Directorate General of Highway Construction at the Public Work Ministry has set a budget of US$1.86 billion budget for 2010.
