A series of new road and bridge projects worth some US$186 million will help connectivity in New Zealand. The plans include studies for three projects in Bays of Plenty, Hawkes Bany and Nelson. Other planned projects include the Nelson southern link, Rotorua eastern arterial and a Port of Napier access package. The programme includes work on the construction of five road projects as well as building a number of bridges. This programme of works is in addition to plans for work on regional roads.
Funding worth US$1.54 billion is helping to finance a series of infrastructure projects in New Zealand. Some $980 million will help pay for the half-tunnelled 4.8km Waterview Connection. A further $350 million is being used for the widening of a 10km stretch from St Lukes Rd interchange to Lincoln Rd. A portion of the funding is also being used for upgrading the Maioro motorway interchange in New Windsor. The tender process is ending for the tunnel project to construct a new tunnel in New Zealand. The route of the new tunnel runs through the Manawatu Gorge in Tararua District. When the tunnel is complete it will provide and improved link between the east and west at the southern end of New Zealand’s North Island.
