Malaysia's key road projects out to tender

The Malaysia authorities are offering four key road projects for tender: a 12km road linking Tanjung Bungah and Teluk Bahang; the 4.2km Gurney Drive-Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu bypass; the 6.5km Penang-Butterworth Tunnel and the 4.6km Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu-Bandar Baru Air Itam bypass. The project is to start in 2015 and has an estimated total value of US$2.55 billion.

    A large tunnel project is being planned for Malaysia’s Penang State. This project has been awarded to a joint venture, Consortium Zenith, formed by Chinese and Malaysian partners. The 6.5km Gurney Drive-Bagan Ajam undersea tunnel will form the centrepiece of the project.   • Malaysia planning huge sea tunnel project

    The Malaysian authorities have now awarded the contract to build the huge Penang-Butterworth tunnel project. The new link will cost in the region of US$1.92 billion to construct and the work includes building three bypass connections as well as the undersea tunnel.
