Malaysia's key road projects out to tender

The Malaysia authorities are offering four key road projects for tender: a 12km road linking Tanjung Bungah and Teluk Bahang; the 4.2km Gurney Drive-Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu bypass; the 6.5km Penang-Butterworth Tunnel and the 4.6km Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu-Bandar Baru Air Itam bypass. The project is to start in 2015 and has an estimated total value of US$2.55 billion.

    Construction work for three new highways will commence in Malaysia’s Penang State by June 2016. The work will help reduce congestion in Penang State.     Work will commence on Malaysia’s new elevated highway construction at the beginning of September 2019. The 5.7km highway stretch will feature two lanes in either direction and will be constructed in Malaysia’s Penang State. It will provide a link between the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway and Air Itam, with 70% of the route being elevated.
