The new tunnel will cut congestion on the existing route and is a key civil engineering project for the northern region of Lombardy. The new link forms part of the bypass for the old route between the towns of Cosio, Regoledo, Morbegno and Talamona, with the whole project including new highway stretches and viaducts and costing a total of €280 million.
