Iran's new bridge

Construction activity has now commenced on Iran's new Persian Gulf Bridge project.

Construction activity has now commenced on Iran's new Persian Gulf Bridge project. The US$909.5 million project is for a 2.2km long bridge that will connect Iran's mainland to Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf. Iran's Government is funding 15% of the project with the remaining 85% coming from local and foreign investors.

  • Work starting on new Colombia bridge

    Construction work is commencing on an important new bridge link in Colombia. The Puente de la Reconciliacion Bridge will connect the municipality of Mompox with the rest of the Bolivar department of Colombia. The project is being carried out by the consortium Consorcio Nacional Yati. The project will improve connections with Mompox, which is difficult to reach by road at present due to the lack of a direct route.     Vietnam is seeing significant expansion of its highway network at present, with another three major projects now moving forward and much of the financial backing coming from other Asian nations such as South Korea and Japan. A feasibility study is being carried out for the 94km Nghi Son-Bai Vot expressway and this should be complete by October 2010. The project is expected to cost US$1.04 billion and the expressway will have either six or four lanes, based on Transport Engineering Design's study.
