Hungary highway being built

Hungary’s M44 dual carriageway project looks set to be further extended by around 61.4km. Plans are being set for the construction of an additional three sections of the route, with the work looking to cost in excess of €471 million. Hungary’s M44 dual carriageway project looks set to be further extended by around 61.4km. Plans are being set for the construction of an additional three sections of the route, with the work looking to cost in excess of €471 million. The three sections will be constructed between the towns of Tiszakurt and Kondoros and as the latter lies close the border with Romania, this work will improve Hungary’s road links to its neighbour. The Hungarian contractors Duna Aszfalt and Hodut will build two stretches of the dual carriageway, measuring 20.5km and 20.4km. A consortium comprising Swietelsky Hungary, EuroAszfalt, A-Hid and Soltut will construct the remaining 20.5km stretch of the route.

  • Budimex wins a 20km section of S61 from Wysokie junction to Raczki

    Polish contractor Budimex has won a tender to build a 20km-long section of the S61 dual carriageway in Poland. The section runs from the Wysokie junction to Raczki, the national highways authority GDDKiA announced. Budimex bid just over €484 million for the 29-month design-build contract. Last summer, the Italian contractor Impressa Pizzarotti picked up a deal for 24km of the S61 from Suwalki to the border with Lithuania for around €144.6 million, according to media reports.   • Work starts on Komarno-Komarom Bridge between Slovakia and Hungary

    Construction has started on the €117 million bridge over the Danube River between the Hungarian town of Komarom and the Slovak town of Komarno. Around 85% of the cost will be covered by European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility. Completion is planned for winter 2019.
