Ecuador roadworks to be funded by US$367mn Chinese loan
The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.
A €150 million budget has been set aside by the Moldavian Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure for upgrades to 200km of the country’s major highway links. The funding is coming in the shape of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In addition the US Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is investing a further US$132 million in its Moldovan Compact agreement. Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide a loan worth US$95million to Kazakhstan for the reconstruction of the Western Europe - Western China highway. The 20-year loan will be given with a four-year grace period at interest rate of LIBOR+0.4% for each interest-paying period. The overall cost of the Western Europe-Western China highway project is US$ 112million.
Funding for a stretch of the Belgrade ring road project will now be delivered by Chinese sources. The €207 million deal has been agreed between the Serbian Ministry of Construction and the Power Construction Corporation of China. This funding will help with the completion of the 20km ringoad project as a portion of the work has already been carried out.
