Plans are being drawn up in Colombia for a number of new tertiary roads in Valle del Cauca Department. A new highway will be built in Valle del Cauca department, while a new road will improve connections between Mulalo and Loboguerrero.

    A key bridge link is due for completion in Colombia shortly. The new Moravia bridge forms part of the Santa Madre Laura road project and should be complete in April 2016. The bridge is over 500m long and has cost some US$46.8 million to build. The work is being carried out by construction consortium Bermejal. Once open to traffic the bridge will help to reduce traffic on the existing Barranquilla and Mico bridges by providing an alternative route to west Medellin.

    Colombia’s National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), has awarded a consortium led by Spanish construction firm, Sacyr, a contract for work on the Pasto to Rumichaca highway. The route lies near Colombia’s border with Ecuador. This project forms part of the second wave of 4G road concessions being awarded. A second carriageway will be built for 80km between Ipiales and Catumbuco, with six road intersections, 2.6km of tunnels and 1.5km of bridges, pontoons and viaducts.     Road development work continues in India, with the country planning its highway infrastructure expansion. The projects are being planned by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). A new 127km highway will connect Lucknow with Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The four lane route will also pass through Ayyubganj and Musafirkhana and is expected to cost in the region of US$425.3 million to construct. The work is being carried out by the contractor Dilip Buildon.
