Work on a new bridge spanning the Yangtze River in China is now underway. The Wangdong Yangtze River Bridge project is expected to cost US$758.6 million to construct. The bridge will be 38km long in total and is due for completion in 2015.
A new cable-stayed bridge is being built in China’s Jiangsu Province. The 1,176m-long bridge will span the Yangtze River. The bridge is featuring an innovative design and its construction will utilise new technologies and novel use of materials. The bridge itself forms part of a 5.3km-long crossing over the river. This crossing will include a road crossing on its upper level with multiple lanes and a rail crossing with several tracks on its lower level.
A series of major bridge projects are underway in Russia, in the Krasnodar Region, Novosibirsk and the Surgut District. A new bridge being built in the Krasnodar Region is expected to be open to vehicle traffic at the end of 2018. Work on the bridge supports is being completed at present and work on the deck is now underway. The bridge will also carry rail traffic from the end of 2019.
