China’s Hebei province and Yibin city reveal big road spending plans

China’s Hebei province plans to spend US$3.47 billion (CNY 21.6 billion) in 2014 to build and maintain rural and normal trunk roads. Rural roads will receive CNY 7.5 billion, normal trunk roads CNY 9.1 billion and road network optimisation CNY 5 billion. Meanwhile, the Chinese city of Yibin will this year invest more than $1.61 billion (CNY 10 billion) in transport projects. During 2014, Yibin plans to spend a total of $6.59 billion (CNY 40.7 billion) on 157 major projects. They include 58 basic infrastructure projects that will cost CNY 17.4 billion, including Yibin-Xuyong expressway's Yibin section.

    A US$780 million eastward extension to Toronto’s major toll highway 407 has opened after four years of construction.     Over 9,500 construction jobs will be supported in 2014 by more than €2.27 billion (£1.9 billion) of investment in Britain’s roads, Transport Minister Robert Goodwill announced today.     Talks between the Chinese Development Bank and the Serbian Government could result in Chinese funding for Serbian highway projects. The Danube coast project and the Corridor 11 highway project have been identified.
