Bosnia-Serbia bridge and highway connection

A highway upgrade construction agreement has been signed by the Bosnian Government and Serbian Government.

Plans are now going to be drawn up for the M18 highway upgrade project connecting Serbian capital Belgrade with Bosnian capital Sarajevo. The project will also include the construction of a bridge spanning the Sava River connecting the Raca border crossing with Sremska.

  • Highway work planned for Serbia

    A series of major highway construction and road repair projects is planned for Serbia. The World Bank (WB), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have all been in talks with the Serbian Government concerning funding for the work. Funding worth €408.46 million has been approved by the three banks for programme of highway construction and road repairs.

    Plans are being drawn up in Armenia for the new North-South Highway project. Measuring some 556km in all, the project is expected to cost in excess of US$2 billion to construct, although there it is possible that the final pricetag will be somewhat higher. The country's Ministry of Transport says that the southern section of the highway between Artashat and Megri will cost $1.5 billion to build alone.
