Australia key contracts for roads and tunnels

In Western Australia, plans are in hand to construct a 3km tunnel that will form a stretch of the Perth Freight Link project. The tunnel will run between the Stirling Highway and High Street in Fremantle to the Hilton's Stock-Winterfold Road intersection. In Western Australia, plans are in hand to construct a 3km tunnel that will form a stretch of the Perth Freight Link project. The tunnel will run between the Stirling Highway and High Street in Fremantle to the Hilton's Stock-Winterfold Road intersection. In addition, the tunnel will also become a stretch of the Roe 9 highway extension project. The Perth Freight Link project is worth US$1.43 billion (A$1.9 billion) in all.

Meanwhile a consortium is carrying out work on the NorthLink WA second phase contract, also in Western Australia. This $314.4 million (A$417 million) project calls for the construction of the Central Section of the Swan Valley Bypass. The joint venture team comprises Laing O'Rourke Australia Construction and BGC Contracting. The work is expected to be complete in 2019.

  • Partners win highway operation deal in New South Wales, Australia

    Egis Projects and its partner Fulton Hogan Construction have won a major contract for the operation and maintenance of the WestConnex highway link in New South Wales Australia. The package was awarded by Sydney Motorway Corporation (SMC) to Fulton Hogan Egis O&M (FHEO&M). The partners hold equal 50% shares in the project. Egis has its share in the Australian project through its Australian subsidiary Egis Projects Asia Pacific.

    In Western Australia a series of road works will be carried out by the Gateway WA Consortium. The Federal Government is funding US$699 million (A$686 million) of the work, which involves improvements to the interchange at the Tonkin-Roe Highways junction, widening the Tonking Highway to six lanes and also improving the Leach Highway. The consortium comprises Leighton Contractors, AECOM, Georgiou, BG&E and GHD.
