Consortium will handle major road project in Western Australia

In Western Australia a series of road works will be carried out by the Gateway WA Consortium. The Federal Government is funding US$699 million (A$686 million) of the work, which involves improvements to the interchange at the Tonkin-Roe Highways junction, widening the Tonking Highway to six lanes and also improving the Leach Highway. The consortium comprises Leighton Contractors, AECOM, Georgiou, BG&E and GHD.

In Western Australia a series of road works will be carried out by the Gateway WA Consortium. The Federal Government is funding US$699 million (A$686 million) of the work, which involves improvements to the interchange at the Tonkin-Roe Highways junction, widening the Tonking Highway to six lanes and also improving the Leach Highway. The consortium comprises 2685 Leighton Contractors, 1397 AECOM, 6696 Georgiou, BG&E and 3369 GHD.

    Plans are in hand for a new toll road project called Roe 8 in Western Australia (WA). However the WA State Government is at present renegotiating the contract for the project. This package had been awarded by the previous WA State Government to a consortium.     Contractors are now installing variable message signs from Australian manufacturer A.D. Engineering International along parts of the Gateway WA Perth Airport and Freight Access project in Western Australia state. Fifteen more of the signs will be installed before the end of the year and will display two-colour text and four-colour pictures as required. Gateway WA is the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken by the client, the government agency Main Roads WA.
