New engine architecture from Perkins will help the firm deliver emissions solutions to meet future regulations. In Europe the Stage V requirements are being finalised but Perkins says that it will be ready with its new technology.
German engine firm Hatz says that its latest 3H50T diesel offers a compact power package for use in European Stage V emissions compliant machines. This is the newest addition to the H series and is a three-cylinder diesel that is said to offer high torque and EU Stage V compliance. The 3H50T is available in the Fan-to-Flywheel version as well as in an open power unit (OPU) variant. Volvo Penta announced its concept for Stage V emissions compliance at CONEXPO-CON/AGG. As with previous emission steps, the Stage V line-up includes all five engines from Volvo Penta’s range, including the D5, D8, D11, D13, and D16.
Starting in the first quarter of 2024, Caterpillar will develop a transient-capable system for off-highway applications. The project will demonstrate how state-of-the-art control systems and electric-hybrid components can help hydrogen-fueled engines meet or exceed traditional diesel engines' power density and transient performance.
