Two Chinese firms are building a new road connection in East African nation Ethiopia. The 133km road will run from Mille to Kombolcha, through Bati. Shandong Highway is working on a 73km stretch of the route from Milla to Burka, while Zhongmei Engineering has the deal for the 60 stretch of road from Burka to Kombolcha. A group of seven banks is to fund the construction of the third Bosporus Bridge crossing in Turkish commercial centre Istanbul. A group of six Turkish banks, Garanti Bankasi, Halk Bankasi, Is Bankasi, Vakiflar Bankasi, Ziraat Bankasi, and Yapi Kredi Bankasi, is being joined by the Netherlands-based Garantibank International to provide the necessary US$2.3 billion of funding required for the project. UK Plantworx show moves to a new home at Bruntingthorpe

The UK's biennial construction equipment exhibition, Plantworx, is moving to a new home for its next show in 2015. Organiser CEA (the Construction Equipment Association) announced today that the event's 11,000 visitors will be making their way to Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome in Leicestershire for three days from June 2 to 4 2015. The new site covers 135,000 square metres and will offer live digging zones as well as a hard standing area that will be used for both exhibition stands and car parking.

Report highlights fresh US demand for asphalt

A report from the US-based research firm Freedonia suggests that demand for asphalt in the country looks set to increase 3.7%/year to 25.17 million tonnes in 2017.
