New engines at heart of JCB’s upgraded rough terrain forklifts

JCB is now fitting its new Tier 4 JCB Ecomax diesel engine to its latest rough terrain forklift range. The engine delivers the same 55kW output as the previous Dieselmax motor, but meets the Tier 4 emissions regulations without the need for a diesel particulate filter or an SCR exhaust after-treatment system. This reduces running costs for customers and the Ecomax engine is being fitted to all four models in JCB’s RTFL range: the 926, 930, 940 and 950.

Montabert has designed its novel Micro CPA drilling attachment for use with a number of utility machines such as backhoe loaders, compact excavators, and skid-steer loaders. The firm offers the H22 and H25 variants, which are single-pass drills with a feed rotation of 45° from vertical. They can be used to drill holes with diameters from 25.4mm-44.45mm and 31.75mm-76.2mm respectively, with maximum hole lengths of 6.1m and 9.1m. Both models can be mounted to carriers in the 5-10tonne range.

The bold decision to go against the norm and build the back spans using falsework for the Ironton-Russell replacement bridge between Parkersburg, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio allowed land access to build the main span which, along with the first use in the U.S. of precast stay anchor blocks, meant the new structure could get built.
Value of UK construction projects up 67.1% in past year

The value of construction projects in the UK has shot up by 67.1% in the last year, according to a new report. New project contracts awarded in December 2013 totalled €7.31 billion (£6 billion), compared to €4.38 billion (£3.6 billion) in the same month in 2012. The infrastructure sector proved to be an area of significant growth last month, with the total value of projects awarded reaching €2.68 billion (£2.2 billion), a 10.6% increase from November 2013 and a huge 101.6% year-on-year growth.

Gradall Industries largest wheeled excavator model – the XL 5300 III – is on show at Conexpo 2014. Weighing 23.2tonnes, the XL 5300 III is said by Gradall to be designed for high productivity jobs on every terrain.
