Doka handles Austria tunnel upgrade

A key section of the busy A12 route in Austria’s Tyrol area has been refurbished with help from formwork specialist Doka. The company devised a formwork traveller featuring steel panels so as to help build a new inner shell for the twin-tube Senftenberg Gallery tunnel. The job involved 36 pouring sections for work on the first tube followed by a break to accommodate winter tourist travel. Mumbai’s poor record in India for road safety

The city of Mumbai officially has the worst record for road safety in India. During 2015, 586 people were killed in road crashes in the city, while a further 2,034 suffered serious injuries and there were 23,468 recorded crashes. Road crashes in Australia are presenting a major problem for the health of the country’s population as well as its economy. According to data from the Australian Government road crashes hit the country’s economy annually to the tune of US$20.36 billion (A$27 billion). Serbia road funding being delivered

A loan of €178 million will pay for the Surcin-Obrenovac highway project in Serbia. The loan for the work is being provided by China’s Export-Import Bank. A survey of pedestrians in Thailand has revealed that many are concerned for their safety when crossing the road in the country. According to the research, close to 91% of respondents said that they have concerns for their safety when crossing the road. The poll revealed that motorists will often not slow down or stop when pedestrians are crossing the road. Drink driving is a particular cause for concern according to the poll.

Poland highway tender process opening

The tender process is opening in Poland for a stretch of highway connecting Napierki with Mlawa. This 14km stretch of the S7 dual carriageway is the first of four sections of the route to be offered for tender. Greek highway project going ahead

Greek contractor Terna is now carrying out work on a new 32km stretch of highway in the country. The project is for a stretch of the Imikomvos PATHE-A/K highway, one of several road projects now moving forward in the country. The go ahead for the work has been given by the Greek Infrastructure Ministry. The highway project is costing €300 million in all, while Terna will also carrying out €5.75 million of additional works.
